Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also performed well in long-term care, where it received an impressive grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
The next category we looked at was inspections, where this facility also received an A+ grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. The nursing grade analyzes quite a few datapoints, however, the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the last area, this nursing home was given an excellent short-term care score. We gave it an A- in this area, giving this facility straight A's. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
