Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a very impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our better scores in that area with a B. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which turns out to be one of its more respectable category grades. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. In computing a facility's nursing grade, we assess the quantity of hours nurses are with patients and the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we graded was long-term care. This nursing home received an abysmal grade of F in this category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 93.10345 percent of its patients. This is a bit less than we expected but still a decent figure. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
