Our inspection ratings are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. We were not able to track down information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without complete deficiency data for this nursing home, it was difficult to fully grade it in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a respectable grade in the area of short-term care, where it received a B-. In determining our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is often a reliable measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home wound up receiving a an abysmal grade in our long-term care category. It was given an F in this category. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.36306 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.48 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our next area, this facility did not fare well in this category either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is really as terrible as it gets. There are numerous factors included in this category. Most of these factors reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. With only 2.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below average. In addition to ranking below average in nursing hours per resident, this place also had poor marks in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place was at about 1.5 times the national average in both of these statistics. This is a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade significantly.
