Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the area of long-term care. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After looking at the impressive nursing hours provided by this nursing home, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.609375 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. This combination proved to be effective as this facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 1.45 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
Facility Inspections
This facility also earned an A+ inspection score, making it one of the rare nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. We weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is based on several datapoints, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular nursing home provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was among the highest totals we found. Lastly, this facility was also above average in each of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The fourth category we looked at was short-term care, where this facility was given a B+. This finished off a very strong profile. Not many facilities received a B+ or higher in every category. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it performed decently in this area, with 45 percent of its patients returning home.
