Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received a favorable short-term care score. In fact, we gave it an above average score of B+ in this category. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. When determining our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we looked at was long-term care. We gave this nursing home a D for our long-term care category, making this the facility's least impressive area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
