Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Although we did not have many favorable things to say about this place's overall score, it received a respectable short-term care grade of B-. This spared its profile to some extent. In calculating our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is more often than not a fair assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's next most favorable category is its long-term care grade, where it was given a grade of C. In calculating our long-term care scores, we analyze the assistance with daily living received by a nursing home's patients. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections
This facility earned slightly below average government inspections in recent years. We awarded them a C in this category. Inspection scores are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories G through L. This tells you that this facility avoided the more serious categories of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Nurse Quality
The last area we graded was nursing, which proved to be a low point for this facility. We awarded this facility a grade of D for the area of nursing. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with levels of nurse staffing. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. Unfortunately, this place also had abysmal marks in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its weak nursing hour totals. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and we were very disappointed. This place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this statistic.
