Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in that category. Inspection scores are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded an impressive long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better scores in that category with a score of B+. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 79.72806 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third category we graded was short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B-. Our short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the final category, this facility was given a decent nursing score of C. Our nursing grade assesses many factors, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most facilities. Finally, while this place did not rank well in terms of nursing hours per resident, it fared much better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the number of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, this place fared better than the national average.
