Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given an impressive long-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded an impressive short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that area with a grade of B. In our short-term care grade, we attempt to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
The last area we scored was nursing. This facility was given an impressive nursing rating this year, with a B-. Even though this is not quite as dominant as many of its other category grades, this is nevertheless a respectable rating for this category. Our nursing rating is primarily associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, we look at quality-based statistics, such as the percent of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care.
