One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection grades are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also received an A+ long-term care grade, rendering it one of the few facilities to receive more than one A+ category scores. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
