Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

To pair with its favorable overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for inspections. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. It does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Compounding its top-shelf assessments in other areas, we awarded this facility a grade of A- for its long-term care grade. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. This nursing home fared well enough in these metrics to receive an encouraging score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a favorable short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area with a grade of B+. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be more important for patients requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. This facility is markedly above average in terms of its quantity of both physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients. The facility offered about one and a half times as much care per resident from both of these care providers than the typical facility provided. The final item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the next area, this nursing home also excelled in the nursing category. We gave it a B+ for that area. This finalized a first-rate profile. Our nursing rating is based on many data points, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This was one of the better figures we found. Furthermore, a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to providing impressive levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, it performed as well as any nursing home in the nation when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as reliable indicators of the caliber of nursing care being provided.
