Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we gave this facility a very poor overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B in the category of nursing. In calculating our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we awarded this nursing home a C for its short-term care grade, which is not too bad of a score. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our long-term care rating. This is not an impressive grade. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 88.92216 percent of its residents. This is many points lower than what we expected. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
Facility Inspections
The last category we assessed was inspections. This nursing home did not receive favorable government inspection reports in recent years. As a result, we had to give it an F in this category. With nursing homes that received this poor of an inspection grade, we recommend scrutinizing any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was hit with 8 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Lastly, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines recently totaling over $100,000. This generally suggests that a facility's bad track record spanned multiple years.
