Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. Our nursing score is largely associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 4.8 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Very few nursing homes provide this quantity of nursing care to their patients. Out of that total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering high levels of care, this facility also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. With below five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Nebraska in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also earned an A+ inspection score, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. This score is based on the place's recent inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the biggest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was strong in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A. Few facilities performed better in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the elite volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff at this nursing home, we also were impressed by the nursing home's record for vaccinations. This facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. This combination proved to be successful as this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.97 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the final category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for its short-term care score. This topped off a first-rate report card. Our short-term care grades are thought to be more meaningful for folks needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. This place was respectable in this area with 48.5 percent of its patients returning home.
