Short-term Care Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our short-term care rating. In our short-term care category, we attempt to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
In addition, this nursing home also earned a nearly flawless government inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. We were not able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was given a strong long-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that category with a score of B+. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 88.04348 percent of its residents, which is a few points lower than we anticipated. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
The next category we analyzed is nursing. This facility received an above average nursing score in our assessment, with a B-. Although this was not nearly as impressive as some of its other category grades, this remains a decent grade for that area. Nursing ratings are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
