Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent government inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the area of long-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. This place was also able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Although it had 1.95 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than the majority of nursing homes due to it having more complicated patients.

Nurse Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. The nursing score analyzes many components, but the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing grades also include quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed better than average in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's weakest area is short-term care, which is the final category we looked at. For this category, we awarded this nursing home a D. Our short-term care grades are presumably most critical for folks needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We found that this facility was subpar in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we looked at. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home a bit in this metric as well, with just 46.3 percent of its residents returning home.
