Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in this category, with an A. Our inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also was awarded a favorable long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 98.63946 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received an impressive short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this area. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next category we scored is nursing, in which this facility was awarded a grade of C. This actually is this facility's least impressive area. This is still not a terrible score. The nursing grade assesses a handful of data points, but the primary one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.
