Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ inspection rating. This is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the best complements we can pay to a nursing home. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also gave this facility a grade of A+ for its short-term care grade. Short-term care scores are critical for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. We assessed the qualifications of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses worked with patients, in calculating our grade in this area. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we rated was long-term care. This nursing home was given a favorable nursing grade this year, with a B. While this isn't quite as elite as some of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of our better grades in that area. Facilities that excel in this category tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize negative health outcomes for the nursing home population. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
