Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this place overall, we awarded it a B for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the place's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's long-term care score turns out to be one of its more favorable features. The nursing home was given a grade of B- in this category. Long-term care grades focus on a facility's assistance with daily living rather than the highly skilled nursing or healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 91.791046 percent of its residents, which is somewhat below what we anticipated. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. The nursing grade includes numerous subcategories. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the final area, this facility really did not perform very well in this category either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
