In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. While we determined this facility has a favorable quantity of nursing care provided by nurses aids and other nursing staff, we found its vaccination rate to be somewhat lower than we expected. It administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 52.941177 percent of its residents. This is one figure we'd really like to see this nursing home improve. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Nursing ratings are primarily associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provides an incredible 5.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Out of this total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to offering high levels of care, this nursing home was also above average in several of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. It performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

This facility also received excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best scores in that category, with a score of A. Inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In the last area, we awarded this facility an A for our short-term care rating. This completed a very favorable report card. Short-term care grades are often used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. When we assessed this nursing home's nursing hours, we found it provided quite a bit more care from registered nurses than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
