Facility Inspections
On top of having a decent overall rating, we also wanted to point out that this facility received favorable inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better scores in this category, with a B+. This is a much better grade than the nursing home's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
The second most favorable area we awarded this facility in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of B-. There are quite a few subcategories within this area. Many of these criteria relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this area. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving a patient more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we rated was long-term care, which is this nursing home's worst category. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is clearly concerning. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 92.40506 percent of its residents. This is a few points lower than we expected but still a respectable figure. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
