Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a decent government inspection report this year. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Tragically, we gave this facility an F for its long-term care score. Facilities that do not score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to only 82.08556 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. In the category of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Considering its weak grade in this category, we weren't shocked to find that this facility offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
Nurse Quality
The final category we assessed is nursing. This nursing home was given an abysmal grade of F in this area. In computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we assess the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is well below average. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this facility also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These statistics hurt this facility's nursing rating significantly.
