Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we didn't give this facility a good overall score, we actually gave it a relatively strong grade in the category of inspections, where it received a B+. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have too many deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's short-term care score is one of its higher features. The nursing home was given a C in this category. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the number of hours of care offered.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we scored is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is a very poor score. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 91.83674 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
