Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this category tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we gave this facility an C. Our nursing rating weighs a host of datapoints. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This place averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care score. This is not a very good score. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid figure. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed was short-term care, which ended up being a weak spot for this facility. We gave this facility a D for short-term care. Our short-term care scores are presumably more meaningful for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we learned that this facility provides substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
