Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its top-shelf profile, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we gave it a grade of A for the category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished assessing the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
In addition, this facility also received favorable short-term care scores this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. With our short-term care category, we try to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we looked at is nursing, in which this nursing home was given a C. This actually was this nursing home's least impressive area. This is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Our nursing rating is based on a host of data points. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is a very low figure. Although this place ranked poorly in terms of the quantity of nursing care offered, it surprisingly performed admirably in a few of our quality measures. In fact, it was above average in two of the subcategories we look at, with positive reviews for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These metrics are measures of the quality of nursing care available since many bed sores and falls can be avoided.
