Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this ended up being a great nursing home is that it earned an impressive inspection grade. Inspections turned out to be its best category. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A. Inspection scores are based on many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Compounding its impressive accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care score. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 93.52518 percent of its residents, which is slightly lower than we expected. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Our nursing grade consists of several subcategories, but the paramount one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth category, this facility received a respectable short-term care score. Even though this is not quite as impressive as several of its other category grades, this is still not a terrible score. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
