Facility Inspections
In addition to receiving a strong overall score, this facility performed even better in our inspections category which is associated with the facility's recent government inspections. We awarded it an A for this category, which is one of our best grades. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive scores, this nursing home received an excellent nursing rating. In fact, we gave it an B+ in that area. There are quite a few datapoints included in this area. Many of these criteria reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving a resident more often.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was given its third most favorable category grade in the category of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is a respectable grade. In the area of long-term care, we analyze the quantity of services offered by a nursing home, rather than more healthcare-oriented services. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.18033 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable total. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's least impressive category was short-term care, which is the final category we analyzed. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. In computing these short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
