Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. We looked at the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the number of hours the nurses spent with patients, in determining our grade in this area. This place provided 5.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the more impressive figures in the country. A significant portion of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most skilled levels of nurses. We were really impressed by these statistics. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this place also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients suffering falls resulting in serious injury, this nursing home performed as well as any facility the country.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive category scores, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. It does not appear that we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also excelled in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A-. Only a select group of facilities performed better in this category. In our short-term care score, we seek to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. This nursing home excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return home from this facility. We found that it outperformed the majority of facilities in the country with 52.3 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this nursing home received an excellent long-term care rating. We awarded it an A- in that area, rounding out a straight A profile. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are kept in good health. While we determined this facility had a favorable volume of nursing care provided by nurses and other nursing staff, we found its vaccine statistics to be a bit low. This nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to just 65.789474 percent of its patients. This is a figure we would like to see this nursing home improve. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
