Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also fared well in long-term care, where it earned an impressive grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 97.54465 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Nursing ratings are mostly tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility also performed at a high level in the category of inspections. It received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with a grade of B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we graded is short-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our better grades in this area, with a grade of B. This facility turned out to be relatively strong in all areas we analyzed. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
