Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a quality facility overall, this nursing home really fared well in long-term care, where it earned an impressive grade of A-. Few nursing homes did better in this area. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 95.550354 percent of its residents. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This facility also excelled in the area of inspections. We awarded it an A- for that area. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. When computing our nursing ratings, we factor in both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this subcategory.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the next category, this nursing home was given a decent short-term care grade of B-. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To have good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. It doesn't appear that this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
