Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a long-term care grade which is better than its overall score. We gave this nursing home a grade of B+ in this category. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 58.3691 percent of its residents, which is slightly less than we expected. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

This facility also received a favorable inspection score. Its inspection grade turned out to be its second best category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down deficiency data for this nursing home. Without complete information regarding deficiencies for this facility, it was a challenge to evaluate the place in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. When calculating a facility's nursing score, we consider the quantity of hours nurses commit to residents and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we analyzed was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of C. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This grade is generally a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. It does not appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.
