Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was awarded a grade of B+. It outperformed most facilities in this category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. When determining a facility's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses commit to patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we looked at was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of B. This nursing home proved to be strong in each category we looked at. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. We weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
