Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a top notch facility overall, it also performed well in inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A-. Our nursing score is largely associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also above average in the area of short-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It performed better than most nursing homes in this area. In computing these short-term care scores, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. It doesn't look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth category we rated was long-term care, where this facility was given a B+. This wrapped up a very strong report card. Very few facilities earned a B+ or higher in each of our categories. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 92.567566 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is slightly lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
