Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that area, with a grade of A-. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Inspection ratings are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

We also gave this nursing home a positive grade in short-term care. This nursing home received a grade of B in this area, which is one of our better grades. Our short-term care ratings are presumably most critical for folks needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility's third highest score is long-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this category, it still fared relatively poorly. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 95.30201 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's least impressive area was nursing, which is the last area we analyzed. We gave it an abysmal F for this area. In spite of a few acceptable grades in other areas, this score is still alarming so we wanted to make a note of it. Our nursing score assesses the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of skill of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were significantly below average. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility.
