Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to acknowledge it received a decent grade of B- in the area of nursing. Our nursing score consists of quite a few components, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a relatively low total compared to most facilities. Finally, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second highest area was its short-term care grade, where it received a B-. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most meaningful for individuals in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The important question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given its next best category score in the category of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a decent score. Our long-term care ratings are more important for those needing more conventional assistance related to personal care. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
The last category we looked at is inspections. The facility received a C in this area. We believe that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. This facility had 4 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to present an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
