Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This indicates that it avoided the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home ended up receiving a rock-bottom score in our short-term care area. It was given an F in this category. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected here. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score is based on many factors, however, the main consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is long-term care, in which this facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade here also. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated 85.21739 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be several points lower than what we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
