In addition to receiving an elite overall rating, this facility earned an A+ inspection rating. This is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Our nursing rating is mostly tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an impressive 3.9 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. For example, it performed as well as any nursing home the state when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these datapoints as reliable indicators of the caliber of nursing care offered.

We also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was given a top-shelf grade of A- in our short-term care area. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. This nursing home is above the national average both in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that it performed better than most nursing homes in this area with 52.8 percent of its residents returning home. With most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home was awarded a very strong long-term care grade. We gave it a grade of A- in that category, giving this facility straight A's. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. Once we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.32886 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.67 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
