Facility Inspections

Grade: C

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We believe that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home had 4 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to present an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

We also want to note that this facility received an F for its long-term care grade. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 93.84615 percent of its residents. This is a few points lower than we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. We looked at the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time those nurses were with patients, in determining our score in this category. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we graded was short-term care, in which this nursing home was given an abysmal grade in this area also. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is definitely a major disappointment. Our short-term care ratings are arguably most meaningful for patients requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. As you might expect, we discovered that this nursing home offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
