Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While we were not high on this place overall, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. When determining our nursing grades, we weigh both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we analyzed is short-term care, where this facility received a grade of C in this category. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The critical question is whether this also impacted quality of care. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Switching gears to our final category, this facility really did not fare well in this area either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. Nursing homes that don't score well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
