In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Long-term Care Quality
The next highest category we gave this facility in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of C. Long-term care grades assess a facility's assistance with daily living instead of the highly skilled therapy or medical services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this nursing home provided the vaccine to only 83.60656 percent of its residents, which is a bit of a concern. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing rating considers a number of factors. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the next area, this nursing home really didn't fare very well in this category either. With an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this place provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
