Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this facility a B- for our long-term care grade, which really isn't too bad of a score. Our long-term care ratings are important for people seeking non-healthcare services such as personal care. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated only 64.13793 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also didn't perform terribly in the area of nursing. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is another one its better scores. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses to assist its residents.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth area, this facility didn't fare well here either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. With our short-term care category, we try to craft a sound measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Given its grade in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.6 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
