Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to emphasize its excellent nursing rating. We gave them an A in this area. Our nursing grade analyzes several subcategories, but the most important one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive profile, this nursing home also performed well in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we analyzed was short-term care. This nursing home received an above average short-term care score, with a grade of B in the area. Our short-term care scores are thought to be more important for individuals requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we graded proved to be this facility's worst category. However, even in its weakest link we still awarded it a decent grade of B- in long-term care. Our long-term care grade is typically used to score a facility's performance as a traditional convalescent home, as opposed to focusing on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.27047 percent of its patients, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
