Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection score. In fact, its inspection score was far better than its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave this facility an A-. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor dings aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we awarded this nursing home a B+ in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our better grades. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.05195 percent of its patients. This is a great way to avoid negative health outcomes for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. Our nursing score consists of several subcategories, but the most important one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was short-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's least impressive area. We gave this nursing home a D in this category. Sadly, this category hurt the facility's overall grade to a certain degree. Short-term care scores are critical for patients requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was subpar in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the staffing figures we looked at. Finally, we considered the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
