Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this proved to be a decent nursing home is that it received a favorable inspection score. In this area, we gave this nursing home a B. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a strong grade in our short-term care category. We awarded this facility a better than average grade of B in this category. Our short-term care grades are meaningful for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, although this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was long-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. We gave it an F in this category, which is certainly very concerning. Nursing homes that do not score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 72.674416 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
