Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection scores are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility was given its second most favorable category score in the area of long-term care. We gave this facility a grade of C in this category, which is an acceptable score. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 94.70588 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable figure. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing score analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to the last category, this facility did not perform very well here either. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Considering its score in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the data we looked at. Finally, we considered the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
