On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home performed well in our inspections category, where it earned a grade of A+. Very few nursing homes performed as well in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to this facility's list of achievements, it also was given a high-end long-term care grade. We gave them an elite grade of A- in this category. When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.35391 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a proven method to minimize unnecessary hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.91 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we scored turned out to be this nursing home's weakest category. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it a decent grade of C in our short-term care category. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most important for patients in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that just 43.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
