Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home also excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received a score of A-. Very few facilities fared better in this area. With our short-term care rating, we try to create a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of moving patients even once per day.
