Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong facility overall, it also received A+ inspections recently. Its inspections were virtually perfect. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. There are quite a few factors included in this category. Many of these subcategories reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also performed well in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of A-. Very few nursing homes received a better grade in this category. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.9899 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a dangerous ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to the fourth category, this facility also performed well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ for this category. This rounded out a very strong profile. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be most meaningful for individuals requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 4.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
