On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this nursing home also earned an elite long-term care grade. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with an A. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 43.217667 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be slightly lower than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility also excelled in the area of inspections. We gave it a grade of A- for that area, which is one of our highest scores. This is one of the few nursing homes with an overall score in this range which earned multiple category grades this high. Inspection grades are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent government inspections. Facilities that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. We were not able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This nursing home is also above average in the category of short-term care, where it was given a score of B. It performed better than most facilities in this area. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. We weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

This facility's worst category is nursing, which is the final category we scored. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this area. Even with several excellent grades in other areas, this score is still a bit alarming so we would like to to make a note of it. Nursing scores are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Although this facility's nursing hours were below average, it actually surprised us in a few of the qualitative statistics in this category. In particular, we were pleased to find that its patients are experiencing fewer pressure ulcers than the national average.
