Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
In our next category, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the category of short-term care. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 43.1 percent of its patients returning home.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing score assesses a handful of factors, but the most important one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averaged only 3.2 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was long-term care, in which this facility was given a rock bottom grade in this area as well. It received a lowly F in this area, which is obviously very concerning. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means the facility didn't perform well in our measures relating to resident care. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.13544 percent of its patients. This is a bit less than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.58 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
