Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. Our nursing grade considers numerous datapoints. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive category scores, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility also excelled in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Not many nursing homes performed better in this category. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.39024 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the senior population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given an A. This rounded out an elite profile. Not many nursing homes received an A- or better in all four categories. In crafting our short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
