Facility Inspections
To pair with its strong overall score, this facility earned a grade of B+ for its inspections grade. This is a relatively strong grade in this category. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. Nursing scores are mostly tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning a resident even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our stronger scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B. In our short-term care assessment, we try to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the last category, this facility was given a high-end long-term care rating. This nursing home didn't end up having any weaknesses. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.6 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
