Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this ended up being a quality nursing home is it earned an impressive grade in inspections. In fact, inspections turned out to be its best category. In this area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Nursing grades are primarily tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next area, this facility received first-rate short-term care grade. In fact, it received a score of A- in this category. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we rated, this facility was given an impressive grade grade of B+ in our long-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home topped off a very favorable profile. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.46809 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the elderly population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
